Skill-For.Action - 12 fully funded research position in forest ecology and applied science of forest engineering available for Early Stage Researchers (ESR)

Dal 23.04.2021 al 23.05.2021

The ETN Skill-For.Action project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Innovative Training Network) calls for applications for 12 fully funded Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs), with attractive complementary training activities and associated research and travel budgets and the enrollment in graduated schools with the opportunity to achive PhD title.

ETN Skill-For.Action integrates the fundamental research in forest ecology and applied science of forest engineering. This integration is crucial and innovative to comprehensively understand carbon dynamics in forests in terms of feedback between carbon sequestrations and release. Overarching objective of ETN Skill-For.Action is to provide high-level training and education in adaptive and integrative forest management under global changes to a new generation of ESRs for a successful career in the forest sector and natural resource management. The education follows an innovative, interdisciplinary and intersectoral approach by a specific and unique combination of applied research and training activities delivered by academic and non-academic partners to strengthen complementary soft skills.

The Skill-For.Action consortium is composed of 10 academic partners and 11 academic and non-academic partners organisations from 6 different countries. It gathers complementary expertise in forest growth and yield modelling, tree nutrition and isotope analyses, fuel consumption and emissions as well as experience in forest operation management and interactive 3D simulations.

Successful candidates will be hosted by the ETN Skill-For.Action Consortium consisting of universities, research institutions and companies in Germany, Italy, Poland, South Africa, Spain as well as Switzerland. They will also benefit from an excellent scientific environment, up-to-date technologies and supervision by international leaders in the field. They will learn to integrate academic and industrial aspects in their research work and they will sharpen their experimental and complementary skills in a well-designed and diversified and unprecedented training program
