Climate change and forests: a challenge for sustainability

Zoom Platform

06.10.2020

The Dept. of Land Environment Agriculture and Forestry, on October 6 at 16:00, will organize, within the Festival of Sustainable Development 2020, an interesting meeting in streaming on Zoom (https://unipd.zoom.us/j/98876118358) and live on Facebook (FB department page: https://www.facebook.com/tesaf.unipd).

Convener: Prof. Paolo Tarolli (professor in integrated watershed management)
Invited speakers: Prof. Tommaso Anfodillo (professor in ecology), Prof. Emanuele Lingua (professor in forest management and forest fires) and Dr. Michele Da Pozzo (director of the Ampezzo Dolomites Park).

Theme of the meeting:
Climate change effects are increasingly evident: increase in temperature, prolonged periods of drought, increased intensity of rainfall, more frequent extreme phenomena. The Forests, which play an important role in the global carbon cycle, are particularly exposed to these changes. The risk is that the productivity of ecosystems significantly changes, with serious consequences on the "services" that humans require from forests.

Registration for the webinar in Zoom is required.
